Auckland Art Gallery iphone app
For the semester 2 project I've opted into the Auckland Art gallery project
the aim to create a tool to help "self improvers" develop there knoledge and develop a relationship between them the works the artists and the gallery.
The app needs the abilty to be used by people of varying skills.
We are developing the proof of concept on the IOS platform, with dev units being iphones.
why?
+ The install base of people in newzealand with iphones is large. (let alone ipod touch users)
+ Possible to utilise hardware specific features.
+ Reels in the focus, its hard enough to agree on displaying content for a 3.5 inch screen let alone a scaling range of sizes and resolutions.and different browsers.
In the final implementation the app will probably be browser based to increase the amount of people who can walk in and utilise it. with specific platform based apps for the main platforms.(IOS, Android, WP7?....)
why not a tablet?
- Too big and cumbersome. (we want the people to be using the app as a information source not a distraction, the more subtle size encorages mobility and a more coherent experience)
- we dont actualy have tablets.
- rarely see them in the wild.
